Dream image of giantess, boat, and seals
Tippy Boat with Seals by Kathryn Taylor

By Piet Hein

I am a humble artist
moulding my earthly clod,
adding my labour to nature’s,
simply assisting God.

Not that my effort is needed;
yet somehow, I understand,
my maker has willed it that I too should have
unmoulded clay in my hand.

Piet Hein‘s work was a staple of my youth, because his Grooks are so full of wisdom and easy to remember.

  1. Piet Hein was so amazing. He says so much in his short “grooks”. He makes me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. Thanks for posting this.
